Current Positions
Mr Price was appointed in October 2006 as a Consultant in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, a position he took up on 1st February 2007. As well as his Cosmetic Surgery interests his specialist interests in the NHS include Head & Neck Reconstruction and Facial Reconstruction. He is the lead surgeon for Facial Reconstruction and Bells Palsy in Cambridgeshire.
Mr Price has previously sat on the Specialist Advisory Committee in Plastic Surgery (Royal College of Surgeons of England) as the BAPRAS representative. The committee’s role is to oversee the training of the next generation of Plastic Surgeons, setting standards for training, developing the curriculum and monitoring training programmes in the UK and Ireland.
Mr Price currently works for Spire Healthcare as one of three Associate Medical Directors, reporting to the Group Medical Director on matters of Patient Safety and Clinical Governance.
Early Surgical Training
After Medical School, Mr Price began his surgical training in Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire, and then moved to London for his general surgical training including Breast Surgery, Renal Transplantation, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Vascular Surgery and Accident & Emergency. He then commenced his Plastic Surgery training in Billericay, then Chelmsford before commencing a period of formal research.
Mr Price undertook a Doctorate in Medicine, involving research using Hyaluronic Acid – the component in most of the dermal fillers in use today. The research involved growing a new skin substitute and researching ways to improve wound healing.
During his Registrar training Mr Price undertook fellowships with Professor Ian Taylor in Melbourne, Australia, with Mssrs McGeorge, Whitby & Hancock, an aesthetic fellowship in Cheshire, and finally a year-long fellowship with Mr Katsaros in Adelaide, Australia specialising in Head & Neck Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Facial Reconstruction.
